As an acupuncturist with years of experience, I have had the privilege of accompanying
numerous couples on their journey to conception, especially those opting for In Vitro
Fertilization (IVF). Along this path, I have firsthand witnessed how the integration of
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can make a significant difference in the experience and
outcomes of these patients.
TCM, with its holistic approach, recognizes the importance of vital energy in the human body
and its fundamental role in the reproductive system. Through techniques such as acupuncture, personalized nutrition, meditation, and other methods, we work to balance this energy and optimize reproductive health.
A case I often highlight is that of Ana, a 40-year-old patient who had experienced two
spontaneous abortions during her previous IVF attempts. When she came to my clinic, she was filled with anxiety and despair. However, as we progressed with her treatment, I could see how her emotional and By using acupuncture to balance her vital energy and providing
guidance on nutrition and lifestyle, we were able to address the imbalances that may have
been affecting her ability to conceive. Additionally, I worked with her partner to ensure that
both were in the best possible condition for the IVF processphysical state began to improve.
During her third IVF attempt, Ana felt calmer and more confident than ever. We continued
with acupuncture sessions to support her throughout the process, and I am happy to say that
this time was successful: Ana is now eight weeks pregnant, and the pregnancy is progressing
satisfactorily.
This experience is not unique. Throughout my career, I have seen how the integration of TCM in infertility treatment can offer hope and positive outcomes for many couples. From my perspective as an acupuncturist, I can confidently affirm that the ancient wisdom of TCM has a crucial role to play in the journey to conception, especially when combined with modern medical advances like IVF
